STILL FROM 'GREYSTOKE' MOORED ON THE AFRICAN RIVER
Soon after, a family of apes stumble across the house and in the ensuing panic, both parents are killed. A female ape takes the tiny boy as a replacement for her own dead infant, and raises him as her son.
Twenty years later, the Lucy Fisher emerges from the fog as it chugs its way up a great African river carrying the intrepid explorers searching for rare butterflies. There hope is that they will also find evidence of the lost Greystoke heir.
Captaine Phillippe D'Arnot discovers the man who thinks he is an ape. Evidence in the tree house leads him to believe that he is the direct descendant of the Earl of Greystoke, and thus takes it upon himself to return the man to civilization.

The Lucy Fisher was originally specifically built for this film by the late Mick Howlet “Metal Micky” - a great friend of French Brothers and much respected throughout the boat building and film making industries.
She is a replica of an African Paddle steamer, built in 2 halves and was shipped to the location in the Cameroons. She was artificially aged to reflect the true character of the era.
