| STILL FROM 'POLLYANNA' |
POLLYANNA ARRIVES ON THE FERRY |
|
| Pollyanna's friendliness and her expectation
that everyone else will be friendly, too, endear her to everyone
from Polly's servants and Reverend Ford to a cranky invalid
Mrs Snow and the town recluse Mr Pendergast. She teaches her
friends "the glad game," finding some-thing to be
glad about in any situation. |
| Tragically Pollyanna suffers an accident and is
badly hurt, rendering her incapable of walking. She no longer
wants to try to play the glad game, until the whole town shows
up to tell her how much she means to them. Aunt Polly is eventually
touched by Pollyanna’s outlook on life and is able to
find love again in Dr Chiltern. |
| Dr. Chiltern learns of a groundbreaking operation
that could help Pollyanna walk again, and she is dispatched,
once again on the regular river steamer, for treatment. |
| All good stories have a happy ending and the final
scene sees Polly-anna return to Harrington on the steamer and
is able to walk to the church to see her Aunt marry. |

| The Boat |
| Set at the turn of the last century, when the motor
car was just starting to emerge as an alternative form of transport
the young Pollyanna arrived at Harrington on the passenger steamer
Nuneham. With no other public transport available at that time
this remote village would have relied heavily on the regular
steamer that serviced the rural community. |
| The choice of made by Carlton Productions to use
this genuine Victorian steamer greatly enhanced this period
drama and added a unique touch of realism and authenticity. |
| French Brothers |
| French Brothers assisted the Locations Manager
and Producer from the very early planning stages. We provided
a wealth of local river knowledge which helped in the location
planning as well as logistics advice for the complexities of
the filming requirements. Safety boats were provided to comply
with Health and Safety issues along with lifejackets for all
river based crew. |
| A particular success of this project was the development
of two low level vessels that proved to be the perfect platform
to allow the filming of the vital scenes filmed from the river. |
| Testimonial |
| “I would like to thank you and your crew
for the major part you played in making our filming with the
Nuneham a successful and well organised day |
| Your input during the preparation, particularly
in terms of the camera boat design, was invaluable and your
role as co-ordinator on the day has been praised by everyone
involved. |
| I certainly won’t hesitate to recommend
you for future projects.” |
